  • Well as anyone who attended this year's festival could plainly see, Stop Motion is alive and well in 2013! I saw so many incredible films it was mind blowing and inspiring to watch so many interesting ideas, creative designs, and inventive techniques over a 2 day stretch. Great meeting a few of you here from SMA.com plus new faces as well. I know that Henry Selick and Joe & Joan Clokey were equally inspired and excited to be part of this unique film festival. Thank you Erik Goulet for your vision and hard work in making this festival a reality!

Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who submitted their films. A large thank you to our jury members, Henry Selick, Joe and Joan Clokey, and thank you to special guests Anthony Scott and James Caliri.

Thanks to everyone who sacrifices their body and their time creating stop motion films and thanks to everyone who's passionately obsessed with them enough to come out to screenings. Thank you to all of our lovely and enthusiastic volunteers, and a massive thank you to Erik Goulet for starting such an amazing festival!

  • This was simply the most fantastic festival I've ever been to. I literally can't remember the last time I had this much fun! Wonderful people, amazing films, and so much passion and love for the art that it's just incredible.

Seriously folks, even if you have to go out of your way, you need to make it a point to go to this festival if at all possible.

  • Some pictures from the first day have been posted on facebook! Here's the link:

  • I have to agree. Amazing fun watching the film, hearing the q&a, and the chance to speak to both after the film was simple immeasurable. Definitely can't wait to see more tomorrow and the rest of the festival.
  • Today was such a blast!!! I can hardly wait for more tomorrow! Grin.gif

  • The 2013 Montreal Stop Motion Film Festival starts tonight!

Henry Selick and Anthony Scott will open the festival by presenting "The Nightmare before Christmas," as this year is it's 20th Anniversary! Henry Selick and Anthony Scott will talk about the production and present new, never been seen behind-the-scenes footage. This presentation is SOLD OUT, but we'll be posting pictures and live tweeting tonight's event.

If you were't able to get tickets to the NBC screening, there's still plenty more great stop motion action happening this weekend. FREE family-friendly screenings! Stop motion stations where you can learn how to animate! Over 70 short films by the greatest stop motion artists and animators the world has to offer! An inside look at how professional stop motion studio NUKUFILM create their films! A visit by GUMBY and owners Joe and Joan Clokey, and more!

  • last year was incredible, I can't wait to go back again this year! I will be the kid with the suspenders on.

  • And I'll be the short-ish gal with glasses and a magenta Vespa messenger bag, most likely grinning like an idiot the whole time. Grin.gif

  • Yes we need to let people know who we are! I will be the guy with a silly expression on his face :)
