taking one frame at a time since 1999

I have no idea what I am doing wrong i have put my image sequence in to AE then into a clip, I have set the frame rate to what i want. I am using after effects to keyout the green screen but when i render and save it as a a video format it doesnt play at the right speed it plays super slow.

Is there some thing I am not doing or any one have any idea of settings that I might need to have different.

Thank you

Test your codec and compression settings. If you adjust: "no compression" or set bitrate too high you can get a giant frame size that your hardware or player cannot handle in real time.

Most computers will struggle to play HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) or larger if it is uncompressed.  But usually I get it stopping and stuttering, not just playing at a slower speed.  Check the frame size, frame rate, and if it is an uncompressed or Lossless version.  What settings are you using in AE when you render?  What are you playing it back in?

Someone just asked me about compressing a 10 minute HD video to upload it to a website, and even using H264 codec, from After Effects the file size was huge.  (I don't know what settings, but he did say he selected H264 and not Lossless.)  He tried the same thing in Media Encoder, a program that apparently comes in the creative suite from Adobe where he got AE, and the reduction is size was dramatic, with virtually no visible difference in the image quality.  So I'm thinking, try something else to make a compressed version.

I am using the Apple Pro Res codec (saving from Final Cut Pro, TV Paint, Lightwave 3d, or Quicktime Pro) to make mov files that I can play smoothly in my editor (Final Cut Pro 6) that still look good.  For uploading to the internet I usually make an H264 version, lower quality but much smaller file.  My upload speed is so slow that a really big file will take too many hours, with the likelihood that a momentary failure in the connection will cause the upload to fail and I'll have to start again.

Internally, programs like AE treat file as uncompressed so you can work on the images, so they generally can't play back smoothly unless they generate a lower res version, just so you can see the motion.

ah okay thank you I think it must be a case of using the right codec then which I am clearly not.
