checkout the Igus Drylin w1040-A, you can get it for around $100 on amazon. I use this slider and it works well for me. You will have to drill a hole in the aluminum carriage for your cam to mount to it and do some customizing but its a great DIY slider package for the price and it will leave you some cash for your lighting.
This thread is over a year old and considering there is a plethora of sliders available there are not many answers. But I also need a slider for an upcoming project and it is very difficult to make an educated decision, so I try my luck here for some advice.
My slider would have to be controlled by dragonframe. I have looked at the omnislider from ditogear and the cinevate moco on an Atlas slider. Does anyone have experience with these sliders or other controlled sliders? Any advice is welcome.
As to the lighting question that the original poster had: I work with kino flo flourescent lights that I got of ebay. They work fine. OP has probably finished his project a long time ago, but maybe others have the same question.
For the last few years I've been using a 3-piece lighting kit of PBL VL-1000 with some pretty good success. I also supplement with some clip-on's if I need to. It'd look better if I were a good DP and really knew what I was doing with light, lol! They're kinda noisy so they're no good for any live action work.
