Nice poster, and like the look of the whole film! Really like the pair of hands to hold the book so you can get the pov shot.
But that brick archway in the first shot bothers me. Google images of "brick arches" and you'll see what I mean. The row of bricks around the edge is not just decoration, it is structural, without it the bricks would fall down. All arches in stone or brick have it.
With the doorway, it could have an arch of bricks over the top, but it could also have a concealed steel lintel, so your door is ok. Actually, the green door is beautiful, and the bricks around it too!
Also, with bricks, even if you are sticking thin flat pieces on, at the edges you want it to look like the brick goes back to the full thickness of a brick. You aren't building it from individual bricks, but it should look like you are.
If you have already shot that scene, ignore this, the audience will be following the story and probably won't notice. But when I look at a still image, it jumps out at me.
Hi Nick, regarding the issues with the archway: I did realise having just built it that it wasn't quite correct, but as it is for a shot of about 3 seconds it was just a set piece that I wanted built and didn't mind too much about perfection! But you are entirely right! Also the bricks are annoying - the first two pictures used the same technique with the bricks and the 1st one looks a little 3d, the second looks completely flat, but in real life it does look quite 3d. I guess I just need to exaggerate it more next time!
Thanks for looking.
