I just completed my latest version of Kong 33. Using materials on hand, I furred the King with synthetic doll hair. While I am satisfied with the result, I feel like I need to spray it with something to help hold the fur in place, but am hesitant to use conventional hairspray. I just learned of a product called "finishing spray for synthetic hair". I am assuming this is what a salon would use on someone with a weave, but I don't know for sure. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. While it is not the best fur job in the world (far from it), I don't want to ruin it by spraying on the wrong stuff. I may buy a bottle of the finishing spray and try it on a small spot on the puppets back.
I bought a bottle of "finishing spray for synthetic hair" from a local barber supply. I tried it on a small spot on Kong's back. Once the aromatic fragrance dissipated, the spray had done its job. It was not sticky, yet it held the fur down. I proceeded to spray a light coat, evenly on all the hair. Here is the result (sorry, I forgot to take a "before" pic):
