Here is a list of known issues and problems with the new site. Please add to this list if you find more.
Message Board: No emoticons. Renamed Forum to Message Board on top tab but can't figure out how to change it on right sidebar, still reads as Forum.
Uploaded movies: uploaded videos don't appear on the iPad, or in Chrome browsers. Just a black empty space.
Photos: slideshow doesn't work on iPad (Flash?) Just a black empty space instead
Facebook: integration is spotty. sometimes the post will appear on FB, sometimes when clicking on the link the following message will appear on FB:
This matter will be resolved eventually, it just might take awhile to get it working correctly. I received this response from the HELP Dept today:
Some kind of setting in the Admistration area so we can browse (lurk) in private while logged in without advertising to everybody which members are online?
EDIT: Sigh .. all this hi-techy excess :( At bottom right corner of page, by default you are connected to Chat and it shows a green dot .... that means your Lurking activies is exposed to other members who are connected to Chat. You click on gear icon, uncheck Chat, and dot turns red. Not sure if that hides the members online feature.
I think it does. I just ran a test and it takes a minute or two to update. That is the only way I can see to be invisible. My problem is, I've signed on from a couple of different computers and browsers so it looks like I'm always online, which I'm not!
Did somebody reply to the emoticon issue?
I don't get one by clicking it, as it says in the instructions below, but by dragging it to the message field.
same here. this was a standard emoticon code available. I'll see about changing the wording from 'click' to 'drag'.
nope, just checked. can't change wording. Hopefully people will figure it out.
It would be very handy if on your user profile there was a facility to link to a users own websites or blogpage. Is this already possible & I haven't found the option?
An amazing site though, it really moves stop motion websites into the modern age.
I agree, but there isn't anything in Profile Information. However, there is something called 'Text Box' in 'My Page' I used that to put my personal website address.
ps. Hi Tim..and welcome to the site!
Found it! It's a little on the discreet side but that just pushes me to make a cheap plug here! I cant show my Frankenweenie work as yet of course but the Magic Piano project I contacted you about when I was in Poland is featured here: http://www.timallenanimation.co.uk/feature-films
I've found it a lot of work putting a website together & am still learning how to interact it with all the social media about these days. Interesting times & this must have been very ambitious challenge for you. Think you'll be making a lot of stop mo fans very happy!
Ps. & in the name of social media & I've just given your site a big Tweet!
Thanks for the offer Bristolius. This site's costs depend on options, members, size. I am using a plan now that will cost about $500 year. Which isn't too bad considering all the features this one has. The old site costs more to operate than this one with fewer features.
I appreciate your offer to help. Actually, I may be asking for donations to help save the old Message Board. There is a thread here if you want to check on the latest news regarding its fate.
I agree with Bristolius & was wondering how you managed it, but financially that sounds like a very good deal. I'd be happy to pitch in if it can help save all these years of stop motion info & advise on the old site. For the moment I'll certainly spread the word to collegues & students (or anyone looking to be a stop motion kidney donor!).
My site cost more than that!
