taking one frame at a time since 1999

Here's a video I have just made about making some cottages in papier mache.

I am a fan of this material because it is cheap and very tough. It seems to be pretty durable too, as some of my sets are a number of years old. And it can be modified and extended: I needed to make a wall a bit wider, so just tacked some more cardboard on and covered it with more pulp.

It works very well on MDF as well as cardboard. I like the latter as it often bends a little bit when wet with the papier mache, so is not too square and perfect. And I use it for smaller pieces, such as the well and the cross seen in the video. The carvings on the cross were just string PVA'ed into position.

Very nice!

Very cool to see this done!  I'm going to be making sets in the near future, so this was very inspiring!

Nice indeed ...

Makes you want to just get in there and touch it! Does that sound creepy?

Thanks for posting your PVA/Joint Compound Papier Mache recipe. I may try this in the future. I like those Hot Glue stands you printed as well.

I'm going to have to try this! Great looking cottages.

You are very welcome! The glue gun stands are now a must-have in my workroom.
