it's been a while since I last posted anything here.
For the past few months I have been working on a VR film with some colleagues that will hybridize film with haunts and escape rooms. The story has plenty of strange creatures and zombies- all of which are created using traditional practical makeup fx. No CG here.
Much to my surprise, the directors had seen and liked my stop motion and asked if I thought I could film some sequences with their 180* VR camera. I told them I'd be down, so over the next weeks we discussed the logistics of film stop motion on 4k and 8k in 180* 3D view.
I'm aware that Phil Tippet has been incorporating VR into his Mad God project, but as far as I can gather his method involves chroma key and compositing along with other form of CG hybridization. (Maybe I misunderstood something.)
Have any of you heard of other upcoming stop motion/VR projects hybridized or not?
Unfortunately, I can't share any photos or footage yet, but once I can, you'd bet I'll post a link.
This is all I could find.
I'm the VR tech operator behind the Isle of Dog VR experience.
Basically we did interviews of the characters from the Wes Anderson movie. We did a blend between our VR workflow and the traditional stop-motion they were using for the movie.
We worked with the same animators, puppets and sets for our VR piece.
Here is the youtube version but i HIGHLY to find any type of headset to enjoy that piece:
