Hans Jacob Wagner replied to Victor Villalba's discussion How to
"The thin felt, 1mm thick, from morezmore.com seems to be a nice fabric for clothing. It comes in a lot of really usable colours and doesn't have the weawing stiffness that scales down so badly. I've not ordered any yet, trying to find it…"

Hans Jacob Wagner replied to Victor Villalba's discussion How to
"One way I've seen used for animating textiles is applying a layer of black wrap with textile glue or rubber cement, to the fabric. Black wrap is a thicker black aluminium foil, used in the film industry for blocking out light on the set."

Hans Jacob Wagner replied to Ameen Noman Abdo Saif's discussion how did the animator change the eyes of the puppets to look like a CGI
"The pig in this movie actually got real eyes of a teen tracked in. That looked awesome. I can't find a link for the full movie and the trailer here doesn't give more than a few frames near the end. But it's a real effective way to…"

Hans Jacob Wagner replied to Luke Walker's discussion How much to charge
"I would say it also depends on the use of the animation. If it's a tv-commercial or an effect shot in a low-budget film. Tv commercials are ofent on a tight schedule, and the money for airtime is extreme. So, in that case, the cost is really…"

Hans Jacob Wagner replied to Jacob Lee's discussion Newplast clay not sticking to fabric tape
"Just how lightweight is the Jovi plastilina? Currently, I'm building a puppet mainly using ultra-lightweight foam clay, which is a bit like modeling with whip cream, until it starts drying. I'm missing a lightweight non-drying…"

Hans Jacob Wagner replied to Hans Jacob Wagner's discussion usb controlled light
"Found that a cheap "$50" video projector can do the trick. Using a hdmi output to project a animated light onto the set. It's actually got a really narrow fokus, that can be a little annoying, but still a really cool way of painting…"

Hans Jacob Wagner replied to Staffan Erlandsson's discussion Animation timer tool for iPhone
"Hi Staffan - I find your motion timer really useful. I found the Android version on some obscure page, and too my chance. I love it !!! Hope that it'll be available for download somewhere - like here soon."

Hans Jacob Wagner replied to Calvin Carl Bond's discussion I need help
"I've once filmed with a webcam as video assist - and I think that the driver worked via quick time and there you could control all the needed settings. I know that you probably have solved your issue by now. But others might be popping by here,…"

Hans Jacob Wagner replied to KC's discussion Connecting Canon to Dragonframe
"You don't want to go cheap on the cable - and keep it under 5 meters even if it's a professional one. It will save you a lot of frustration."

Hans Jacob Wagner replied to Tatu P's discussion Canon eos R or RP?
"I wouldn't jump on this right now. Seems there is some overheating issues. And it is also so very expensive. Personally I would invest in better lenses, a gearhead or a motion control slide - if I had that kind of money."

Hans Jacob Wagner replied to Alonso Soriano's discussion Cosclay
"Anyone tried this ?! Very intrigued - been using silkclay which is almost impossible to sculpt details. But I've learned that cosclay should be as heavy as sculpy - but maybe a combination could prove useful. Silkclay is very light and I like…"

Hans Jacob Wagner replied to Keith Adams's discussion AnimaShooter
"Well I just revisited the page and found a mail to the developers. There's still a lot of fuss about the paying site 2checkout that I don't like. So I mailed them about my concern. And asked if there are any other way to make the purchase."

Hans Jacob Wagner replied to Keith Adams's discussion AnimaShooter
"I liked it a lot - especially how you can control a secondary monitor and use it as a greenscreen, backdrop video or animated light source. Brilliant!! But when I wanted to bye myself a copy - my bank refused to use the Russian payment service that…"

Tahoma - free open source stopmotion program

Please check out the Tahoma 1.0 that just came out.

www.tahoma2d.org

It's a fork of OpenToonz that now has canon dslr input.

That means that it has all the advantage of being a traditional animation software.

You can combine traditional animation to your set.

Make hand animation as reference

If you have a video projector you can use it for synchronized animated light effects.

That alone is a total game…
