"The farther away an object is, the more dark tones (including shadows) blend with the sky. What is dark or light is measured relative to the sky (including clouds). Blending includes tone/hue. In real life, atmosphere can look more dense, simply…"

"Very thin white netting = bridal veil = gauze. That's the stuff! At the BBC we also called it wig lace when it was used for the front of professional wigs."

"The fabric is called "bridal veil" and is used for just that purpose, but can be used for stop-motion very effectively. You can also paint or print an image of your background at the distance you want it to look.  Just make sure it is…"

How to create a illusion of a far stretched distance

Hello everyone! I saw this film called "the three of us", made by Nirvan mullick and Benjamin Goldman and I noticed how well it was able to give the illusion of a far stretched desert with looks to me miles long (first and second picture). I’ve been analyzing it and have some trouble figuring out how they did this. I am thinking it involves some blurring in editing and perhaps a forced perspective by having the mountains far back like in the set in the 3rd and 4th picture, which is a set build…See More

best way to make a magnethic stopmotion face

Hi everyone! I came here to ask a question for a stop motion doll I am making. And I thought maybe someone here has a answer for me! (: The doll is going to have a rather simple face, because my expressions are going to be so simple, 2 black dots that move around and a few simple black mouths would be quite enough to show enough expression. I figured a way to do this would be by putting a magnet in the face and use a few tiny magnets for the eyes and mouth. And I’m thinking of putting a thin…See More
