If you are like me you are a massive Stop Motion nut, so I fort
it would be a good idea to share with you guys some Photos I took of my
collection of these beautifully made Jun Planning dolls from Tim Burton’s
Corpse Bride. Based on the stunning Puppets made by Mackinnon and Saunders used
in this visually inspirational Stop Motion film.
Even though I don't have any latex, I went ahead and experimented with making a puppet head armature. It has a core of balsa wood, with twisted 20ga wires for lips, nose, ears and eyebrows (epoxied in), two 16ga wires set into an epoxy putty plug in the neck and covered in a thin layer of epoxy putty. The thing is quite light, and I am hoping the epoxy plugs and covering will overcome any problems with the balsa being too soft to stand up to the stress from bending the wire while…Continue
Oh have I got some news to tell you lot!!! Firstly I have my Emotimo rig for filming pans, tilts and slides. But you're not bothered about that! You've just read "Zombie has arrived" - so without further ado, here is the first of many Zombies in Dan of the Dead.…
I hope that "EOS M" will be acceptable to remote shooting by PC.
Well after this summer I have a greater respect for the patience and skill it takes to be a stop-mo animator! This is when I decided after years of reading and researching I would jump into making a real puppet with wire armature and tie downs etc. I have been teaching 7 and 8 year olds for 27 years and as an end of year project we make clay animation movies for the last 5 years. I break them into groups of 4 or 5 and they write a script based on something that they have learned in second…Continue
Just started a new project for a display for the Anifest Animation Festival in October here in the UK, and I thought it would be cool to share the process of the build up.
I'll start with the initial CAD design process, laser cutting, proof of concepts etc. Then follow on with final CAD designs, manufacturing and post processing of components ready for full build up.
The final build should be around 25cm / 9" high, using ball and socket modular joints through out - plus I'm…Continue
This is a test-of-concept and test-of-techniques experiment using mostly recycled materials (cardboard from boxes, a plastic bag for the windows, etc.) to construct the environment. I still have a LOT to do on it, like paint the mortar lines and brick shadows, make interiors for the apartment on the second floor and café, finish the street and sidewalk, maybe put a ledge…Continue

First, I want to say that I think the new site is excellent. This is just what we needed. Well done to Anthony for making this excellent move.
Next, my plan for this blog...
My goal is to use this blog to keep people up to date with my progress in converting the buildings I have bought in Denmark, into film and animation studios. Also, to keep you up to date on my progress with various film projects which feature stop motion and stop motion…Continue

I thought I would share with you some pics of a stop-motion set I just finished, and some explanation of the process in the hopes it can be useful to anyone.
I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

Hot pants got you didn't it? Well, that is my word for "short shorts" (get it?). I have been casting about for a subject which would be appropriate for a 15 second clip, and finally came up with one I like. The idea is for an advertisement for my animation studio (I have thought of stealing Nick's "Humongous Studios" or maybe "Acme Studios"), that is if I ever manage to get it off the ground.
The clip will begin with a man ("Joe") walking back and forth in front of his restaurant,…Continue
