This reel consists of work from my Developing Practice module. I produced a series of animation exercises using character animation as my main study. I used everyday objects, plasticine and an abstract puppet to use for the animation tests. I also did frame by frame drawings in my sketchbook as an exercise to study movement, body language and characterisation.

Here is the website link for the production studies 90 second film that I was part of. We learnt to work as a team to produce a 90 second film. Our team produced a stop motion film. We tried to keep it as simple and short as possible. From pre production to final outcome, it took us about 12 weeks to make. The film is called "Guardian", about a choir boy being stalked by a gargoyle that comes to…Continue

Never seem to get the time but this summer holiday i decided to have another go a making a stop mo puppet. I used a balsa wood core, with eye sockets drilled out, also ear, eyebrow, mouth, nose and neck holes which were filled with epoxy putty so the balsa wouldn't break. Afterwards I covered the head, except for the eye sockets, in a thin layer of epoxy…Continue

I am about to begin my journey into stop motion at a serious pace. I have been researching and doing more research into the tools that I will need to achieve my goals. What I'd like is some advice and to see if I am on the right track. Currently my budget isn't very high, so I will not be getting a DSLR to begin with. Later on when I've gotten much more experience and have built my sets and puppets for my short film (which I've been planning since 2007) I…Continue
