New project in development...My dads sock.

Hello all,

Ive started to develop my next project. Its called MY DADS SOCK.

Its going to take a while but ive started building models and have a storyboard. Very busy at the moment starting a natural sciences Open university degree and working full time but it will be my fun time.

Expresso-Skull

I'm working on learning to make silicone puppets, and had a reasonably successful experiment embedding armature wire inside the face to allow for posable expression -- got some pics of the process here.

Subsequent trials will have the wire embedded closer to the skin's surface (the "lower lid" wires especially are difficult to reach), and have more of the wire hugging the surface contour…

The Quest for a career continues!

Went to the Laika website this morning to see if there are any new job postings for thins I'd love to do.  Nothing new just yet, but the jobs I applied for including Stop Motion Animation Assistant, RP Face Librarian, Mold Maker, Character Fabricator, and so on are still there, meaning they haven't chosen someone yet.  So I'm keeping my hopes up!



Along with my career search I find that coming to this site is very comforting in finding the small and humble community of Stop Motion…

I just realized that there's a blog area here.  So I think I'll blog about my projects and work in trying to find a career in the industry!  recently I've applied to a number of jobs at Laika including stop motion animator assistant and RP face librarian.  I've already met a recruiter at the last SIGGRAPH and we had a great conversation.  I also sent an email asking about the job and they told me I'm still under consideration for the role of stop motion assistant so I'm very hopeful!!  I'm…

Freeeeedoooommmmm!!!!!!

For anybody who might suffer from internet addiction (as I apparently do) I've discovered a really niftly little app called Freedom, which allows you to switch off your internet connection for a period of time you specify - up to 8 hours at a stretch - so you can actually get some work done.
