taking one frame at a time since 1999

Painting the concrete block wall consisted of first painting a base layer of gray then adding black and brown washes for depth and color. White was dry bushed on to further bring out the texture.

Liquid acrylic ("craft") paint was used throughout.

The walls were assembled using rubber bands and some wedges that define the angle of the walls to each other. I'll have to adjust these when I get actual puppets and props set up for shooting.

I wanted the walls to be reusable. This way they break down into flats which can be stowed away when not in use. The entire set would be impractical to try to store in a built up state and would be highly susceptible to damage. The first set I built years ago was destroyed when someone dropped camping gear on it. More recently, a built-up set of a house was crushed during some energetic spring cleaning in the basement. Since we use that space for more conventional things, I need to make it easier to keep my stopmo stuff secure.

Good aging technique, using that brown wash. Really helps break up the grey.
