So I manage to connect my Camera (Nikon D5100) to the Dragonframe software.

Everything is going well except after a while my camera won't be detected again.

Closing and re opening the program worked. But it still disconnect after a while.

I did all pf what they recommend on Dragon frame's support page. But it still disconnects.

(I'm still trying different solutions as of now)

Did you encounter similar problems with DragonFrame/your Camera?

What solution did you try/ Found best?

Any other options you tried that isn't in their support page?

I'll appreciate your replies. :D

Your Nikon might have a setting that shuts the camera off after a period of non use. If I remember correctly I changed a setting in my Canon to 5 minutes. If I haven't taken a shot in 5 minutes it disconnects. I believe it's "command + R " on a mac to reconnect without closing the program. It should prompt you on screen to reconnect. Hope this helps.

On my canon the default setting may have been 2 minutes? There is an option to never shut down on the Canon, but I figure I want it to shut down if I get distracted for any length of time. I would think this is a standard feature on any dslr....

Thanks Steve. I actually found out about that today. But thanks for the help. I would try adjusting the time period. Thank you :D.

I have the same thing happening with my Canon, using it with StopMotion Pro, it shuts off if I don't take a shot for a few minutes. Mostly that happens when I am setting up and moving the lights around, not so much once I get going. But sometimes it takes longer to do something, like drill,a new hole for a tiedown or answer the phone, and I have to restart the camera. I increased the shut off time yesterday, while I was going through the menus looking for an auto function that was causing a variation in brightness. I'll see if it's long enough next time I animate.
With some older Nikons, there can also be an issue with the camera shutting off to prevent overheating when Live View is left on for a long time. I don't know if that still applies to the D5200. It is the reason I went with Canon when I upgraded to a live view model, otherwise I preferred my Nikon D70 and would have gone with a new Nikon. The Caliri Bros did a shoot with DF and a Canon and Nikon side by side, and found the Canon did not shut down, but the Nikon did, so that decided it for me.

That happened to me like yesterday I think?. I found out that the USB cord causes disconnection even with just slight bump into it. Even though it's not loose. Maybe securing it with a wire, string or tape would prevent the problem :D.

Yes.  The mini USB plug that goes into the camera can sag from the weight of the cord, so something to help support it would probably be a good idea.
