Hi there. If only there were some books about it!
There are an increasing number of camera moco rigs, not all of them suitable for stop motion but intended for movie makers or stills photographers doing time-lapse sequences.
Edu Puertas has posted a number of YouTube videos with his rigs. There are several threads on this site with details about making a rig, including pictures of my own rigs.
And there are the websites of manufacturers such as Ditogear, Mark Roberts etc.
One thing that has propelled people like myself into designing and constructing rigs has been the inclusion of a free Arduino moco sketch with Dragonframe, enabling control via that program. I have had good results from it, and have constructed two rigs so far, refining the accuracy as time has gone on. One controls 4 axes, the other 6 axes. But it has been a case of experimenting until I got it right, with only the clues I could get off the internet.
