taking one frame at a time since 1999

Hi folks, been tinkering with some UV-reactive pigments, and finally got something working.

I give you... Puppet Putty GLOW!

The lighting is just a novelty Halloween party bulb, so this would work better under a true black light, which can be simulated by taking out the visible frequencies to get this:

Blue is not possible yet, but I can make it in Yellow, Orange, Red, Red-Orange, Pink, and Toy Green.

Even if you don't do much with clay, maybe you could use it for special effects? There are clays like this, but they don't melt. This one does, and you can pour it into silicone molds for more options. :D

this is interesting. . .

Nice to see you are still coming up with great ideas for your Puppet Putty.

Thank you, Nick (Sir!)

As much as I love stop motion and support what other people are animating, this is too big of a distraction to let go and it's super fascinating. The glow thing always seemed to be on the horizon, and before that the lightweight aspect, and before that the non-staining pigments (and you know about an old preoccupation with glossiness).

So, the main thing is, I can't stop. Gotta see what all the possiblities are. The current goal is to come up with a softness that isn't brittle at room temperature. Once that is attained, there's two more variations: the one that is transparent, and the one that looks like wood (this is starting to look like the titles of "Friends" episodes). :P

But, yeah. Basically, I need an intervention before the whole automobile is reinvented. j/k

Thanks, old buddy! I'm curious what you've been up to as well. Did you know that StopMoShorts inspired several word-oriented competitions? You deserve credit for being the godfather of stop-motion improv.

I've been using it and it glows nicely!

Super cool looking!

Gotta get some.  Will it be available at animateclay soon?  I've been using the regular Puppet Putty and the mix is a real sweet spot of hard and malleable.

Keep experimenting.  Please.
