hello fellows!

here is my question, but first some explanation.

i use fluorescent softboxes & dslr, and its works perfectly fine, but for some pictures, i would like to use webcam (dont ask me why :D) and faced with a trouble - flicker.

webcam just cant work with this light, so, what do you advise for imitation of a daylight for webcam?

oh, p.s, i use ms lifecam studio, for example.

I used to use halogen lights, sometimes with a blue gel to get a cooler daylight. Halogens have pretty well disappeared from disco lighting stores, or as ceiling downlights, so your best bet may be to look at LED lighting. There are LED replacements for the old floods and pin spots, and I think there will be softlights as well if you search at photographic lighting suppliers. They tend to be bluish, so should be ok for daylight without any gels. And you should be able to adjust the white balance on your camera to get the colour you want. FLuoros have a rapid flicker which shows up on film and video, as you have seen, but I don't think LEDs do that.

For LEDs it varies for each product, different LED lights will have different refresh rates on their dimming electronics. I've tested super cheap LED panels from Amazon though and I didn't find any flickering in my tests.

Though some youtube videos I found showed that some cheaper LEDs can have flickering on lower dimming settings that can be visible even on video recordings but the flickering went away on higher brightness settings.
