Hi! I've joined the site as my kids (aged 10, 8 & 5) are very interested in making their own Brickfilms & I wanted to be able to guide them. They were introduced to the idea at the National Media Museum & have been desperate to make their own films ever since.

Hello! I'm a recent college graduate, trying to get into the animation industry.
I've always had interest in stop motion animation but never had the opportunity to make my very own. So, through this site and others, I have been studying the art non-stop. So, I can finally create my very own stop motion animtion short.

Hello! My name is Charles Pieper. I was a member of the original site way back when and have since worked on several stop motion music videos and projects of my own and for others...I just re-signed up for the new site now, so hello!

I am currently working on a stop motion for an artist having a big gallery exhibit in NYC soon...Quite exciting and weird stuff...I am working on it at the Special Effects company I am currently at here in Los Angeles...On top of that I have several personal stop motion ideas of my own in the works....So yes, that's me, right now, so hello hello! How goes it, all?

*stands up tentatively*

Hi all - my name is Mike, and I've been a stopmo addict for - 50 years now. Well, not quite - I guess I didn't notice how cool the movement was in Gumby and Davey & Goliath until I was maybe 3 or 4, but that's when it started really. One of my first clear memories is of when I was 6 and my mom called my downstairs and said there was something on TV she thought I might like, and it was Jason and the Argonauts! Oh how little she undertood the power of that moment!! It was life-changing actually. So my stopmo jones had grown from the childish to the adolescent, and sometimes in the 90's it grew to adulthood when I discovered the dark alchemy of the Brothers Quay and Svankmejer. And who could forget the fateful day I got my first computer and did a search for Stopmotion Animation and discovered this amazing site (at it's former home). Another life-changer. All of these events, plus countless more (Rankin-Bass included) have largely shaped my life into what it is now. At least in all the important aspects.

Nice to be here with you all!

^ Hahaha!! I remember that site - and yeah that Strider guy - he was really something else, wasn't he?

Ah, go on then...

Hello. I am Dean. 30 years old. As a kid, I was fascinated by Postman Pat, Wind in the Willows, The Wombles etc. I have been telling grown-ups I wanted to be an animator ever since I became aware I was a person. Unfortunately, this didn't (yet) happen, and I became a baker. I love the character design and puppet-making side of stop-motion the most, but also enjoy bringing them to life, and creating their world. I only get to be creative in my spare time (which, majorly frustratingly, is very little), so progress is slow - which is evident by the lack of updates on my blog.

I, too, have been a member of this (old) site for a few years - despite Strider pretending not to know me  I changed my name, but I'm still the same.

I adore fantasy and sci-fi related stop-mo. Especially woodlandy or outerspacey stuff. And also futuristicy, post-apocolypicy stuff.

And that's me. I think. And I live in Yorkshire, England.

Oh - you're THAT Dean!

Pleased to re-meet you! Heh - very strange to discover you've been talking to someone you know, only you didn't know it!  The online world is a strange place..

hi there, I graduated in animation with a specialist in puppet animation too many years ago to mention, got disillusioned and joined the machine for a while attempting to study cgi... got further disillusioned and decided to return to the fold, I do experimental stopmo strictly as a hobby now and am learning to re love it, there is nothing that compares to the hands on approach of this craft, I live in bristol uk, (birthplace of morph) I am 45 married to a very understanding wife who helps out making costumes etc and currently make films in my shed

Howdey do, my name is Thomas Nicol.  I posted on the old site as QuantumCat42, but the culture here seems weighed heavily toward IRL names, so outing myself it is.  Please don't stalk me

Anyway, I got into stopmo doing brickfilms when I was 12 (that's when the Lego Moviemaker set came out, which was given to me by a generous grandmother).  Got the bug, rocked the bricks and clay for a few years, then had a spell of predominantly live action work.  After college, though, I plunged back into stopmo with a vengeance, and am just trying to learn everything I can.  If I could do this professionally, that would be wonderful; however, for now my software development career does such a good job of financing my artistic side I'm not likely to take the plunge any time soon.

hello everybody, my name is jennifer & i  stop-motion! ;)

i played around with object animation 10 years ago at university and used simple stop-motion animated clips for mixed-media videos and clubvisuals combined with crazy flash-animation, but i never really knew how puppet animation or small-scale setbuilding was done, or whom to ask. work and other projects eventually took over...

2 years ago i went back to university, changed my career to postproduction and got deep into 3D - funny thing is, here i found my passion for stop-motion animation again! :) my teacher agreed on my choice for a stop-motion project&master thesis as long as it has some VFX in it and i was free to do academic research and dive into this subject fulltime for one year. I met a lot of people on workshops and festivals and learned a great deal! I built my first sets and puppets and did a first test-shooting with them. i hope to be able to animate them in a short movie soon. I wish I had joined this great site sooner! Happy to be here now!

Hello,

I am have been working as a 3D artist and compositor for the past eight years and I am just getting into stop motion. I also enjoy building things and so it seems like a nice fit.

/Randy
