Hello! Recently the artist-run centre I work at has had the opportunity to pick up some brand-new EOS-R cameras, specifically to upgrade our studio and so we could poke around with the Stop Motion Animation Firmware released through Canon.
We've been having a lot of fun testing this out since we picked these up -- not a lot of resources online in terms of guides, but the full-frame live preview is a beautiful addition and the focus peaking is pretty handy. One thing that caught our eye on the website was a mention of being able to program focus pulls with the firmware -- you can find it here under "CANON DIGITAL FOCUS + APERTURE LOCK":
"Canon EOS R + RP with updated stop motion firmware can lock aperture of RF lenses (to avoid flicker) and program focus pulls."
It sounds like something that could be handled through the MoCo workspace, but no dice so far with setting up a digital focus axis or anything like that. We can also program a focus shift with the focus jog tweaking just fine, but that doesn't seem to be specific to this firmware. We hadn't seen a reference to this anywhere else in the press for the firmware, but it got us curious right away. I thought I would come here to ask if anyone who happened to be using this firmware had the chance to dig into this or not!
