Ian Boone
Hi! I’m Ian. I’m a stop-motion character animator with more than a decade of experience in feature film and television. I’ve worked on Tumbleleaf, Ask the Storybots, Wendell and Wild, and LAIKA’s upcoming feature Wildwood. I’ve been teaching stop-motion for the last four years both privately and as a mentor for LAIKA’s internship program. I teach students of all skill levels and all levels of interest—whether you want to get into the industry, make a short film, or do stop motion as a hobby. The lessons are tailored to you and include assignments, in-depth critiques, and live demonstrations. My favorite thing about animation is creating believable characters that are thinking and feeling and I am committed to helping students to get their characters to REALLY feel alive. I love working with students on the nitty gritty details of professional animation: precision, clarity, and studio-level technique.
Send me an email and I’ll get you all of the details about rates, scheduling, and how to sign up. I’d love to work with you!
“Ian’s class took my skills to the next level! He has clarified a lot of my questions about the process of animating as well as the inner workings of the industry in general. I really appreciate the effort he puts into the program and the energy he brings to our lessons! We begin class by analyzing professional clips which helps me recognize the principles/techniques that we talk about more easily. The critique portion of the class is very in depth and I always leave feeling very prepared to tackle the next assignment with what I’ve learned. Overall Ian’s an amazing mentor and cheerleader and I’ve never felt more confident in my work! If you’re a green artist like me who’s looking to upgrade their skills or just want a good hang you should absolutely consider taking this class! 🙂 ”
