Growing up with big dreams of working in the film business, I turned to magazines like Starlog and Cinemagic to give me endless inspiration. These publications taught me how to create double-exposed special FX by backwinding my Super 8 film, how to build a stop motion puppet and create miniature sets. These magazines, especially Cinemagic, would publish step-by-step tutorials on the various techniques like mold-making and matte painting. There was always something new to learn in every issue.

That was the idea behind the Stop Motion Handbook. Here you will find tutorials written by various members of StopMotionAnimation.com. Hopefully these articles will inspire new generations of filmmakers and animators for many years to come.
